The white outfit vs. spaghetti.

Streaked Horizons tank, Anthropologie
Patch Pocket Cotton Poplin shorts, Loft
Pieced Prism necklace, Anthropologie
Idiom bangle, Kate Spade
Modiste-Summer Madness wedges, Sketchers
Key-per Satchel in "Retro" print, Fossil

Feeling really good about how my arms are looking after only eight CrossFit classes.
It might just be the angle.  It might just be the Instagram filter.
But considering I've done literally close to 500 push-ups in the past two weeks,
I'm going to say, "Yay me!"

Went out for date night with my fella this weekend.  After dinner we stopped by the pub for a pint... and played with our iPhones.  Hopeless romantics.

I decided to pair white on white and highlight my new favorite necklace.  Of course I wanted Italian food and didn't think to throw my Tide to go stick in my purse.  Yikes.  But I am happy to report my outfit escaped unscathed.

"Is that girl wearing pants?"

 Hmmm.  Decisions decisions...

It doesn't get any better than margaritas with your girlfriend on a Friday afternoon.  Unless you toss in some shopping at Anthro sans kiddos.  Ahhhh, bliss.

All are welcome to the Friday Afternoon Margarita Club.  We meet Friday afternoons.  We drink margaritas.  It's just that complicated.

Cheers!

[Guest Blogger: Sara] Shopping is a Group Sport.

I am spreading the blog love.  My first official Guest Blogger is none other than my BFF and playgroup co-leader, Sara.  We met over six years ago at our first playgroup when our boys were just weeks old.  She is as sweet as molasses, and I don't know how I would survive this crazy ride through motherhood without her.

Take it away, Sara...

Last week, I went to the Tucson Anthropologie by myself and found this totally cute romper in the sale room.  Every time I see a romper I think - that would look awful on me.  You see... I'm a tall girl.  5' 8."  Barefoot.  Add some heels and I tower over people.  Rompers are made for 4 year olds with cute little bodies - not giants.  But lately, this blog has encouraged me to take some fashion risks and step out of my box just a little bit.  So I tried it on.  It was cute, and a bargain at only $29.99, but I just couldn't convince myself to buy it.  Where would I wear it?  Would my husband make fun of me?  Is it appropriate for anyone over the age of 30 to wear this?  You know that conversation.  You've had the same one in a dressing room a hundred times.  So I left this baby behind and continued on with my day.

The next thing I knew I was off to Girls Weekend in Scottsdale with my BFF (the writer of this blog) and her sister.  Super fun weekend with lots of dining out, lounging poolside and shopping.  Low and behold, we ended up at Anthropologie in Scottsdale.  And there it was again - the Moss Green Romper of my dreams.  So I tried it on again with the encouragement of the girls.  They loved it and now it was marked down to $19.99!  I decided it was fate and bought the romper.  I wore it out to Geisha A Go-Go for a sushi dinner with the hipsters of Scottsdale (trying not to feel self-conscious the whole time).  And you know what?  I think I pulled it off.

As I look back on the evening, I have decided 3 things:
1. Sometimes we need to let go of our insecurities and live a little.
2. My legs still look pretty good for a 35 year old with 2 kids.
3. Shopping is a group sport.  Sometimes you just need a little encouragement from your girlfriends.

So go out today and buy yourself a romper.  You'll be glad you did.
Just make sure you bring your girlfriends!

Peg leg.

Mossimo top, Target
Broken-in Straight Khakis, Gap
sandals, Doctor Scholl's
bag, Aldo
initial necklace, Anthropologie
Decker watch, Fossil
Original Wayfarer sunnies, Ray Bans

Here I stand before you in none other than tapered pants.  That's right, folks, I have jumped on the peg leg bandwagon (or french roll, pinch roll, or tight roll in other cultures) after a 20 year hiatus.  Quoting the omniscient Justin Beiber, "Never say never."

Are you digging this trend... again?

Color!

Mossimo top, Target
Marissa Cotton Twill shorts, Loft
T-Strap wedges, Clarks
Little Bit Mini bag, Anthropologie
Original Wayfarer sunnies, Ray Bans
Whistle Charm necklace, Anthropologie
Decker watch, Fossil
Charm bracelet, Juicy Couture

I realized the last two outfit posts were simple white tops and jeans.  Translation: boring.  So here is a nice obnoxious color and pattern combo for ya.

No worries, girls.  There is more where that came from.  I just got a pair of electric blue capris.

Girl math.

Yet another sun dress on my wish list.  I love a classic shift and the modern print of this dress.  And because the sash is removable, it's like a blank canvas each wear.  Versatility: another word for "girl math."

"Ladies who Lunch"
Dessau Dress, Anthropologie
Bryce Short necklace, kate spade
Spade to Spade mini stud earrings, kate spade
Francca sunnies, kate spade
Brette tote, kate spade

Occupation: Homemaker

Spiraea Shirtdress, Anthropologie
Sweet Zinnia stud earrings, kate spade
Sailor's Knot Hinge bangle, kate spade
Rosaleen, kate spade
Turquoise Kitten Heels, Butter

I hate this question:  "What do you do?"

Answer:  "I'm a stay-at-home mom."  (Insert uncomfortable "Now what do we talk about" silence because apparently by being out of the work-force, I am neither interesting to talk to, nor can I handle any discussion beyond the addition of the newest member of the Wiggles.)

But, yes, I'm just a Homemaker.  And, yes, I run the sweeper in kitten heels while tending to my dear children and husband.

Now, Darling, fetch me my bon bons?

Degrees and decades.

Stitchery Peasant blouse, Anthropologie
J Brand Bette jeans, Anthropologie
sunnies, Karen Walker
saddlebag, Anthropologie
Leoma bangles, Chico's
clogs, Anthropologie

Summer temps are on their way to the Arizona desert.  (Groan.)  In honor of today being our last day around the 70 degree mark, I wore a little 1970's inspired outfit.  I didn't get a chance to get an outfit pic before I changed back into my sweats, so you have to use your imagination, kids.

Tomorrow is supposed to be 84 degrees.  I will be crimping my hair and wearing blue eye shadow.

Bargain basement prices!

Ah, the scent of rubber flip flops imported from China is in the air.  That's right, girls... it's Springtime at Old Navy.

Now, I like mahself a good deal.  But, seriously (snob alert), am I the only one who feels like she's slummin' it at Old Navy?  The crying babies, the crappy plastic hangers, the orange "clearance" stickers... I feel like I'm in the Bargain Barn as my internal Michele Weinberger says, "I'd like to go... away."

Romy and Michele's High School Reunion

Too harsh?  Maybe.  But I do go back. I always go back.  You just can't beat those rock bottom prices.

Shopping my closet.

OOTD (outfit of the day):
Featherweight tee, Express
Drawing Parallels skirt, Anthropologie
Classic Canvas, TOMS
Little Bit Mini Bag, Anthropologie
Decker watch, Fossil

I tend to go a little bananas shopping in the Spring (as evidenced by my last few posts regarding my recent trips to Anthropologie).  But when you wear summer clothes twelve months out of the year, things in your closet start looking pretty stale.  I told myself that I need to start shopping my closet.  Time to get creative and remix the pieces I already have.  I'm using this blog as my way to hold myself accountable.

I "bought" this outfit for tomorrow's jaunt up to Scottsdale.  So... since this outfit was free, is it justifiable to buy three new skirts tomorrow?  I think so too.

Kindergarten.

Outfit inspiration:
Kindergarten

Immense Eyelet blouse, Anthropologie
Jones Wide-legs, Anthropologie
Marina Bay long necklace, kate spade
Painted Cycles tote, Anthropologie
Peep-toe wedges, Anthropologie

Of all the things my Kindergartener is learning in school this year, he is the most proud of learning how to whistle, snap his fingers and ride a bike.

You know, life skills.
