Smee.

Striped Knit dress, Old Navy
Floral Embossed belt, Lucky Brand
Classic Canvas flats, TOMS
Boyfriend watch, Fossil
itty bitty silver locket, (Love, Jeff)
earrings, Forever 21
Original Wayfarer sunnies, Ray Bans
Maybelline "Very Cherry" lipstick

Noah:  "Mom, you've got a mosquito bite on your forehead!"
Me:  "Thanks, Sweetie.  That would be a zit.  And thank you for pointing it out."

I'm 34.  I'm not supposed to have to order Proactiv Solution for crying out loud!

I do indeed have a mosquito bite, but that would be on the top of my foot.  So all weekend I was switching between flip flops and sandals, but everything rubbed right on my bite and it itched like crazy!  So I opted for TOMS.  But honestly, I can't wear TOMS beyond 70 degrees.  And although it was unseasonably cool, hovering around 80 today, still my feet got nice and sweaty.

So other than the bindi on my forehead and having to dump a bottle of baby powder in my shoes, my outfit seemed to resemble a dimwitted Disney sidekick.

That's right, people... keeping it classy here.

Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!

Canopy Lookout dress, Anthropologie

Idiom bangles, Kate Spade
Gumdrop earrings, Kate Spade

Date night with the fellas!  They boys surprised me Mother's Day morning with tickets to see Mary Poppins!  The evening was "practically perfect in every way."

I just wish I could have worn this necklace...

Glee.

Fashion inspiration:
Emma Pillsbury
(and perhaps Sue Sylvester's top hat)
Glee, "Nationals"

Jeff said he thought Emma Pillsbury's dress was definitely a "Mollie dress."  He thought I may already own it.  I don't, but I can take care of that.

Japanese Floral Cameo dress, Kate Spade

Emma's is from Unique Vintage, but I rather fancy this Kate Spade version instead.  Thanks, Jeff!

PS  Check out the surprise sale from my dear friend, Kate.

Girl math.

Yet another sun dress on my wish list.  I love a classic shift and the modern print of this dress.  And because the sash is removable, it's like a blank canvas each wear.  Versatility: another word for "girl math."

"Ladies who Lunch"
Dessau Dress, Anthropologie
Bryce Short necklace, kate spade

Francca sunnies, kate spade

Occupation: Homemaker

Spiraea Shirtdress, Anthropologie
Sweet Zinnia stud earrings, kate spade
Sailor's Knot Hinge bangle, kate spade
Rosaleen, kate spade
Turquoise Kitten Heels, Butter

I hate this question:  "What do you do?"

Answer:  "I'm a stay-at-home mom."  (Insert uncomfortable "Now what do we talk about" silence because apparently by being out of the work-force, I am neither interesting to talk to, nor can I handle any discussion beyond the addition of the newest member of the Wiggles.)

But, yes, I'm just a Homemaker.  And, yes, I run the sweeper in kitten heels while tending to my dear children and husband.

Now, Darling, fetch me my bon bons?

A blessed Easter morning.

Stamped Dot dress, Anthropologie
Bow belt, Anthropologie
Bubble necklace, Francesca's
Bryleigh wedges, b.o.c. via DSW

Ah, Easter morning.  The birds are singing.  The good china is set for a lovely Easter spread of homemade bread, eggs and fruit.  The children skip to church dressed in their Sunday best.  (Insert record scratch sound effect.)

Not at my house.

It's rush the kids through their Easter baskets because we're already late, scarf down a handful of cereal, hog wrestle the kids into Easter outfits, then drag them to church while giving a stern, "God sees all."  Sigh.  Sometimes you have to let the hungry and poor fend for themselves and pray for patience for a solid hour at church.

An open letter to the hungry and poor:
I'll getcha next week.

"What's up, Doc?"

Boatneck shift  dress, Old Navy
scarf, American Eagle
flats, Blowfish via DSW
sunnies, Anthropologie
Gumdrop earrings, Kate Spade

I felt so fresh and shiny before I took the kiddos to the pediatrician's office.

Fresh and shiny doesn't last there, though.  They crank up the heat in the exam rooms so the kids are warm and toasty in their gutchies, which means I was a sweaty mess in about 2.5 seconds.  I tried to wrestle my 18 month-old into submission on the crinkly papered exam table for an hour as my crazy 6 year-old was break dancing on the floor in his underwear (which he thought was hilarious).

I felt like I was on repeat saying, "Shhhh.  Slow your motor.  We are in a place of business.  Don't be inappropriate."

But we survived.  Lollipops for the kids... margaritas for the mom.

Crappy photography.

Pinstripe dress, Anthropologie (circa 2010)
Intyce boots, Steve Madden
Initial necklace, Anthropologie
Decker watch, Fossil
Sephora lipstick in "It girl"

Got all dolled up tonight for our playgroup's MNO (Moms' Night Out).  It was so nice to catch up with the girls and meet a few new girls over some blood orange margaritas.

I want to start taking more outfit pics, but clearly I need some more practice with the self timer.  It took me 400 pictures to get this one.  And I didn't even get my feet.  I would ask Jeff to snap a few pics, but God bless him, he's the world's worst photographer.  (Love ya, Dude!)  Maybe I can train Noah... or even little Max.  Until then, it's me and the tripod, and crappy photos.

This shot was the runner up.  There were about 300 of these.

Bargain basement prices!

Ah, the scent of rubber flip flops imported from China is in the air.  That's right, girls... it's Springtime at Old Navy.

Now, I like mahself a good deal.  But, seriously (snob alert), am I the only one who feels like she's slummin' it at Old Navy?  The crying babies, the crappy plastic hangers, the orange "clearance" stickers... I feel like I'm in the Bargain Barn as my internal Michele Weinberger says, "I'd like to go... away."

Michele Weinberger
Romy and Michele's High School Reunion

Too harsh?  Maybe.  But I do go back. I always go back.  You just can't beat those rock bottom prices.

Favoritism.

Vappu Dress, Anthropologie 2010

What piece in your closet would you rescue if your house was on fire?  I know, right... such happy thoughts for a Friday.

The LBD.

When Jeff said that I have a work event of his to attend next week, I couldn't help but squeal in delight.  Not because I'm proud that he is being honored, but because it gives me an excuse to get a new dress.

But I just couldn't justify a new outfit when the dress code is "Business Dress."  Translation:  Something boring that I will never wear again.  So I decided to remix my favorite LBD.  Look at me being economical!  No worries, I won't make that a habit.

The LBD.  The little black dress... as versatile as a wife, mom and playgroup leader.  One dress, many wears.  One girl, many hats.

14.

Queen Bee:
Zooey Deschanel
in the Grass Court Dress, Anthropologie

Sometimes I succumb to the peer pressure of Zooey Deschanel and Anthropologie.  Sometimes I think I might be 14 because I want to dress like the popular girl.

I think Zooey is mad at me.

Bonkers.

I thought not shopping for over two months might give me some sense of clarity.  Shop from my closet.  Work with what I got.

Then one afternoon I went into my Anthropologie.  Clarity gone.  Went bonkers.  Dressing room filled to the brim.

Cerise Stamped Dress (petite)
Belle Bow Belts
Ah, the perfect little Sunday sundress.  My mom demanded I get the yellow belt the dress form was wearing.  No way would I sass back to my mom, so... ok, yellow belt.  But I knew I would be perserverating on the black as well, so... ok, black belt too.  After all, a girl needs options.

Four Corner Shirtdress
I have been drooling over Summer shirtdresses since watching Emma Stone in The Help.   Love the of the moment hi-lo hem and bright coral of this dress.  I had to size down because of the bust.  Ego boost canceled out by and ego bust (pun intended).

Ping-Pong Tank
I have had my eye on this darling little ping-pong print blouse, and lemme tell ya, (said a la Oprah) looooove!  The online reviews were mixed.  Some girls said it was too tent-like because they had bigger chests, or it was too cropped.  I knew being flat chested and short waisted would come in handy someday.

Darlene Dobby Skirt
What can I say, I'm a sucker for a summer skirt.  And in my favorite color of the moment, orangey orange.

Now it's easier to shop from my closet and work with what I got.  Clarity.

Popsicle weather.

Outfit inspiration:
Popsicles

My BFF, Sara, introduced me to Mighty Minis Popsicles when our now 6 year-olds were just babies.  And because they are slow melting, they buy you a few extra minutes of peace and quiet.  I just hope they invent non-sticky Popsicles next.

Too Much Fun dress, Modcloth
Charm bracelet, Juicy Couture
Joanne sandals, Bass
Gumdrop earrings, kate spade

It's February and 76 degrees here today.  Perfect Popsicle weather.  I need this sweet little sun dress to go with my Popsicle, don't you agree?

Packing List: So Cal wedding weekend edition

Outfit 1:
Rehearsal
Drop Waist dress, Anthropologie
Idiom bangle, kate spade
Leoma bangles, Chico's
Leoma necklace, Chico's
Chardae earrings, Chico's
Elise, Indigo by Clarks
black opaque tights, Hue

Holy awkward.  My first attempt at an outfit pic.  I am really digging the Beverly Hills Hotel-esque wallpaper.

Outfit 2:
The Wedding
Sumana dress, Anthropologie
Leoma bangles, Chico's
Envelope clutch, Aldo (similar)
Chardae earrings, Chico's
Fiddle Bridge sandals, Indigo by Clarks
Leoma Pendant necklace, Chico's

This is my fake walking up the stairs pose.  Tyra would call it "fierce."  I call it my "senior picture" pose.  I just hope I ordered enough wallet pics for my friends.

76 Trombones.

New Romantics Color Me Bad Dress, Free People

Obsessing.

However, I fear here in Southern AZ, this look might say, "I just marched in a diversity parade."  Sigh.

"Porter couldn't come down to Tea today. Buried himself, had to. Don't you know."

OOTD:
Drop Waist Mini dress, Anthropologie
Boyfriend blazer, Anthropologie (similar)
Intyce boots in Cognac, Steve Madden
Be Mine mini heart studs, kate spade
Idiom bangle, kate, spade
Leoma bangles, Chico's
Charm necklace, Anthropologie (similar)
Holly, my BFF from 4th grade, and I would always use British accents when we would be out in public.  Who knows.  We were 10.  I caught up with her and her sister this Summer and we fell on the floor laughing when we discussed "Porter" and why he couldn't come down to Tea.  Who the heck is Porter and what does any of that mean?  Not a clue.  But we could say it fast with fabulous accents.  Still can.

Meeting a few girlfriends for High Tea today.  I wonder if Porter will be there...

*OOTD:  That's style blog lingo for "Outfit of the Day."  I feel so ligit.
